Adele From The Other Side

The highly anticipated music album from the tear-jerking multiple Grammy-winning British singer, Adele's new musical stylings have hit our ears with its melodies through a special delivery. A two-hour primetime television special on CBS titled "Adele: One Night Only" with live performances debuting brand new songs and some not-so-chart-topping songs stuck in the corners of our brain. And the cherry on the top of the cake is an exclusive sit-down interview with Oprah Winfrey about her upcoming album 'from her rose garden' opening a gateway to her life, her return after a six-year-long hiatus under which she got married, had a son, and got divorced and a remarkable physical transformation.

After a six-year break, to enjoy family life with her husband (Simon Konecki)and son (Angelo), which lead to a divorce in 2019. In a Vogue interview, Adele expressed that to make her son, Angelo understands her turbulent relationship leading to divorce under the public eye. The parcel of her vulnerabilities during the most turbulent time for her life injected into the twelve songs setlist with three bonus tracks (exclusively on the Target CD feature) encompasses the "30" album set for release on 19th November 2021 through label Columbia Melted Stone.

With a taste of her brand new music with the release of "Easy on Me" which has amassed about 156 million views within a month of its debut on Vivo YouTube Channel. The song is a mixture of Adele's powerful vocals with devastatingly beautiful lyrics. Famous for capturing her heart in her songs, "Easy on Me" is reminiscent of her previous hits( "Someone Like You"; "Make You Feel My Love" ) with a heart-wrenching feeling mirroring her married life starting the song with a piano melody that is unmistakably Adele. Along with soaring vocals, melancholic piano melody and a steady tempo, an explosive combination that makes the song, unlike anything she has released before except the start of the music video which was set in black-and-white which happens to be in the same location Adele used in her video for 2015 hit single “Hello.”

Another significant aspect of this song is that she is pointing fingers at only herself while projecting her innermost vulnerabilities intertwined with the lyrics of the song which has propelled it to resonate with her fans all over the world.

Furthermore, the track titled " UK to America" on the setlist of the "30" Album is presumably the story of her relocation from the UK to Los Angeles ahead of the Covid-19 lockdown. We would have to have to listen to confirm our presumptions.

On top of these teasers, the preview of the sweet melodious song " Hold On" was featured in a heartwarming holiday-themed ad for Amazon.

Adele: One Night Only aired on November 14 on CBS and Paramount+ streaming platform. Here is a recap of the musical night. As the singer crooned the first single, “Easy on Me,” from the steps of L.A.’s Griffith Observatory. In the background, a glistening sunset sending streaks of pink and orange across the sky along with a slightly blurred Hollywood sign could be seen looming in the hills above Los Angeles which made the setting easy on me.

“She’s as real and as down-to-earth as we all believe she is.”

Oprah's introduction to Adele at the top of the evening cements our confidence that we are in for a treat from the precipice of the show.

Adele's performance at Griffith Observatory took place in front of a small audience of A-listers including Melissa McCarthy, Ellen DeGeneres, Tyler Perry, James Corden, Gabrielle Union, Gordon Ramsey, Dwyane Wade, and Lizzo. All of them witnessed the glorious return of soulful music from the powerful vocals of Adele.

But in addition to being a vocalist of enormous power and a writer whose songs sound like they were crafted particularly for people to process their heartbreaks. Embodying Oprah's point, Adele has always come across as relatable.

She looks high glamour in a custom look by Schiaparelli, which was a black silk faille dress. Along with a black moon rock embroidered bustier to accentuate her curves. She styled her hair in an updo to show her custom Saturn pendant earrings from the Italian fashion house. Adele has always seemed to maintain a humble attitude, and that dichotomy has deepened the enormous love from her fans. Adele’s persona has an aspect of sophistication tempered by a loud cackle that makes her appeal to the masses as someone who is immensely talented but can have a laugh.

During much of the concert, her conversation with Winfrey, which was conducted in Winfrey’s rose garden, was interspersed between songs. She comes across as grounded and self-aware, discussing everything from her divorce from Simon Konecki, an experience that informs many of the songs on 30, to her weight loss.

With the progression of the show, one could say that with each question asked by Oprah, Adele would answer with an interspersed song with a similar title. Making it evident that Adele is saying a lot through her music.

The show commenced with the infamous “Hello,” followed by the fresh out of the oven music of “Easy On Me”. Adele serenades the celebrity audience as well her son, Angelo in the audience with “Skyfall”. Then the performance shifts to a brand new song from the upcoming album with “I Drink Wine”. And a throwback to the ever so popular “Someone Like You," “When We Were Young, and “Make You Feel My Love”. And a brand new song “Hold On,” along with the hit “Rolling In The Deep,” and a “30” album tracklist number closed the show with “Love Is A Game.”

Adele warmed our hearts when she orchestrated a surprise proposal from a guy named Quentin to his girlfriend of seven years, Ashley. To top it off she serenaded them with “Make You Feel My Love,” suddenly and involuntarily — this, embarrassingly, is true — my heart was being embraced.

The high anticipation for the "30" album and prospects for its success is not unexpected. The song "Hello" from Adele's album "25" became the most viewed song on Youtube with a whopping 1 billion within 3 months of uploading. If this isn't enough evidence of the hype, the DailyMail announced that her music video for Hello greeted its 1 billionth view in 87 days, breaking the 158-day record held by Psy’s Gangnam Style.

If you are wondering what was so special about the video for the hit “ Hello”. It is the first video shot using IMAX cameras, “Hello” quickly beat out Taylor Swift’s record to become the most viewed video in a single day on Vevo, and the second-fastest video to hit 100 million views on YouTube. French-Canadian filmmaker Xavier Dolan (Mommy) shot the six-minute work of art, with Jannie McInnes serving as executive producer. Via Entertainment Weekly

Moreover, “Hello” retained its No.1 spot on Billboard’s Hot 100 chart for 10 weeks straight. Which shouldn’t be a surprise as the song is a banger. To add to that, her album, 25, sold over 800,307 copies in the first week, giving Adele the fastest rate in reaching the two million album sales mark.

Until now, the song “Easy on Me”, which arrived Oct. 15 at midnight U.K. time and in the evening in the U.S. is an emotional ballad following the success of “ Hello”. I am elevated to report that Adele scored her second No. 1 on Billboard's streaming songs chart with “Easy on Me”. Even though “Easy on Me ” starts with fewer streams than “Hello,” which happened to accumulate 61.6 million clicks its first week, the former also grabbed 3.1 million additional streams between 8th and 14th of October tracking week after its release on 14th October tracking up to five hours’ worth of metrics toward the Billboard charts on 23rd October. Additionally, “Easy” actually builds upon “Hello” in on-demand audio streams. As of its 61.6 million listens on 14th November 2015, chart, 20.4 million came from on-demand audio services such as Spotify and Apple Music. Meanwhile, “Easy on Me” garnered a staggering 45 million from on-demand audio platforms. And that 45 million number is the eighth largest on-demand audio stream count for any song in 2021. Enough with streaming numbers, for now, let’s jump into the creative marketing efforts of the “30” album that contributed to its hype.

From the UK, Dubai, Germany, The Netherlands, Italy, Ireland, France, Italy, the US (sadly not Australia), famous landmarks such as the Palace of Westminster, the Empire State Building, the Colosseum, Edinburgh Castle, and the Louvre have all been plastered with the number 30 and nothing else/Photo Credit: Brandt

While the world waits with bated breath for singer-songwriter Adele’s new highly anticipated album titled 30, which is set for release on 19th November, the artist has got dedicated Twitter accounts spewed with possibilities about the creative marketing campaign that took over landmarks around the world.

Fans had been on the lookout for any clues that could point towards the fifteen-time Grammy winner potentially dropping some new music, and they were not disappointed, to say the least. Before the proper introduction of the album titled 30, many of the world’s most famous monuments sported huge projections of the number and nothing else. Although cryptic (there was no mention of Adele anywhere), fans were fast to catch on since the artist has followed the theme of naming her albums after the age she was when she wrote them. Can’t believe this?

30 will be Adele’s fourth studio album, following behind hit records, 25, 21, and 19. While 19 had the hit song “Chasing Pavements,” the singer gained momentum with the album 21, which came out in 2011. 21 featured some of the most chart-topping songs such as “Rolling in the Deep,” “Rumor Has It,” “Set Fire to the Rain,” and “Someone Like You.”

The name of the upcoming album also holds significance as well. Even though Adele is 33 years old now, her 30th year was a big one, hence the title of the album Looking back at that time in her life in 2019, she wrote on Instagram, “30 tried me so hard but I’m owning it and trying my hardest to lean into it all. No matter how long we’re here, life is constant and complicated at times. I’ve changed drastically in the last couple of years and I’m still changing and that’s okay.”

She also joked to fans who were waiting on a new album, “Bunch of fucking savages, 30 will be a drum n bass record to spite you.”

Adele, however, previously said she wouldn't name any other albums after her age. “This is the last album after my age,” she said of 25 while speaking to James Corden in 2016. “I believe in trilogies. The next one will be Adele.”

Adele won three out the four main prizes at the Brit Awards on Tuesday, where she also put in an assured performance of her track I Drink Wine.

The singer won the best artist, album and song of the year for Easy on Me.

In that sense, Adele One Night Only achieved its goals and gave us so much more. Despite the rarefied air it occupied, Adele was reminded by her fans why she missed them. Her voice is like memory and an active emotional trigger, a robust glass of red wine that heats your insides and makes you wishful. Have you noticed that every one of Adele’s albums has been released in either late fall or winter? Makes you wonder that this is probably right because that’s when the warmth is most needed.
