Joey King kicks ass as The Princess / Image Credit: IMDB
“She refuses death time and time again.”
That’s the reverberating undertone of Hulu’s “The Princess” spoken aloud by its villain, a monstrous sociopathic figure named Julius (Dominic Cooper). He is too beautiful to play the villain in my opinion, oh well, the most handsome-looking ones are the most villainous most of the time.

The most surprising aspect of this female-centric narrative is the Director Le-Van Kiet and its script written by screenwriters Lustig and Thornton who are all male. Uhhhh... Once again a female narrative is conveyed from a men's lens. Facepalm emoji. The director has a singular idea – violence and ruthless killing until you’re sick of seeing the dead bodies fall to the floor, it does get overwhelming gory as the film progresses hence, the A rating. That said, I loved this modern and empowering rendition of The Princess where she is brave, gallant, undeterred and ready for action yielding a sword or any weapon she can get her hands on.
In the fashion of ‘The Raid’, the Indonesian action classic, the princess’ mission is to save her family from the tyrannical and megalomaniac Prince Julius. Still, she has to make her way down from the Tower through a sea of savage soldiers. the underrated actress, Joey King stars as the kickass titular character who is flawless in her portrayal of " The Princess".

Joey King is credible and compelling as a vengeful would-be princess bride in this over-the-top action fantasy tale. If you still aren't convinced why this film is worth a watch. The cast should catch your attention: Olga Kostyantynivna Kurylenko, that name may should familiar if you are an MCU fan as she starred as Taskmaster in Black Widow and here she stars as the deadly whip-yielding Moira, the trusty side-kick to Julius and instrumental in the takeover. Olga has a thing to play villains, I guess. The highly trained Veronica Ngo stars as Joey King's martial arts teacher, Linh who makes her realise that she has a heart of a warrior.
